The Mestia to Ushguli road is the classic Upper Svaneti route — around 2 hours each way on a rough, unpaved track that needs a 4x4. It leads to one of Europe's highest permanently inhabited villages, under Mount Shkhara.

This page covers the transfer (there and back, or drop-off for an overnight). If you want a driver who builds in photo stops and the Shkhara viewpoint, our Ushguli day tour is the fuller version.
